Life With LuLu – The Slipper Edition

This past Wednesday afternoon we rushed home from work, grabbed our stuff for the weekend, loaded the kennel and onto 101S we headed.  Menlo or bust!  The ride to Menlo Park is really decent – the only real headaches are 19th Ave off the Golden Gate, but after that its smooth sailing.

Uncle Arnie, always the true gentleman, was waiting at the end of the driveway and once LuLu was out of her kennel and into Cindy’s house the party (or Menlo Mania) began.

This edition of Life With LuLu is entitled “The Slipper Edition” for a reason.  When we pulled out of the driveway I was wearing them … and as I scribe this morning … am still wearing them.  I love my slippers and saw no reason at all to wear shoes to basically was a food/drink fest.  Right?

For the past three days LuLu was an absolute champ.  She put on a couple of shows as she dragged her bed around Cindy’s place.  Her slipping on the hardwoods also put on a few inquisitive smiles from those whom she had just met, but all in all, she traveled extremely well, slept well in an unfamiliar abode and walked the streets of Menlo as if she grew up there.

While Uncle Arnie prepped, cooked and checked the ovens, and Aunt Micki listened, commented and observed, our little LuLu either sat, collapsed, slept or performed her “four flat tires” in the middle of it all.

Each morning I walked Lu in the neighborhood long before the bedrooms opened and emptied.  Our quality time with each other, sitting in the darkened living room next to the fireplace each morning was our little Thanksgiving treat because once the day started we all added to a volume level probably unmatched within the 94025.

So would you like to know what happened down there on the peninsula?  Thought you’d never ask …

We arrived around 4:PM, and with plenty of daylight remaining, the luggage was dropped, the beers were opened, the wines were uncorked and the laughter commenced.  Arriving at Cindy’s early on Wednesday was beneficial to everyone.  Unless you were the brown run in Cindy’s living room that is … we don’t know what it is about the color brown, does it resemble the mulched backyard? Anyway, LuLu takes a few liberties (#1) with brown rugs … apologies all around … once she settled in there were no more embarrassing moments with that regard.  LuLu found he place in front of the entertainment center and watched us do our thing.

Who’s up for Chinese food?

“Our thing” lasted until Friday morning when Arnie and Micki had to catch a plane back to warmer climates; Boynton Beach, FL … and we had to get back home to settle in for our last evening with Taylor before she returns to exams at USC.  Perhaps a stop in Corte Madera is in our future?

Silly … of course it was.

Taylor just called as she boarded her plane bound for Phoenix en route to Charlotte.  Bonnie and Logan nap on the couch and I’m trying to figure what to do with the remainder of the day.

It was a wonderful Thanksgiving, one we’re all going to remember for sure and with any luck at all we’ll have a member of the Menlo metropolis in our midst when the Christmas holiday approaches.

Love and cheers,

While LuLu zzzz’s by the back door, I think I’ll throw my slippered feet up on the coffee table, and settle into a cup of coffee and try to figure out a game plan.

Cindy – thanks again!!
