Life With LuLu – The Argonaut

Home of The Argonaut

What’s an Argonaut? Bonnie and I asked each other the same question a few moments ago when we read the December 2010/January 2011 edition of The Argonaut, a newsletter produced by the Mother Lode Bulldog Club of Sacramento Ca with all the information on membership dues, public information, minutes, articles on dog health, upcoming dog shows, and this issue carried LuLu’s letter to Santa Claus published right here on her daily blog.  We were all surprised as we sat down this evening to read the day’s mail.  We were so excited to show LuLu the photos of her in the paper as we read her the letter she wrote to Santa this past Christmas.

We accepted an invitation from the Mother Lode Bulldog Club for an upcoming bulldog show up in the state’s capital.  Daily walks with LuLu continue to help prepare her for this monumental event.

Her walk this afternoon down the street and back was much more peppier and alive than the walk I discussed in the last blog.  Once I grab the leash off the hook she’s all “up and ready” but once we get outside and begin the adventure it’s alot of stop and go.  She’s funny and wants to let me know whose boss.  Little does LuLu know I live here in a house with three women … I already know!  🙂

Snows continue to fall on the east coast.  Taylor called me earlier this morning to let me know her campus at USC was shut down due to receiving 4″ of the white stuff!!  Logan is NOT HAPPY about any of this.  The Low Country of South Carolina has received snow the two winters we’ve been here in Northern California and Logan is very jealous.  Her report card came in today – A’s and B’s, so there’s good news on all corners here in Pet-A-LuLu-Ma.

It’s all good.

Oh yea … what’s an argonaut? The paper defines the word perfectly to describe our bundle of bulldog as an adventurer engaged in a quest.

Michelle – thank you and we look forward to engaging in our quest with you next month.

Peace,

Papa

Life With LuLu – A Trimmed Tree(t)

Seriously Santa ... I have everything I need!

So we purchased a wonderful six-foot noble last night and it took about an hour from door to door, including a Starbucks pit stop on the way home.  The girls decorated it wonderfully and LuLu regularly inspects the lower lying branches and areas where she may be able to squeeze in to go behind the tree. NOT A GOOD IDEA.

The girls snapped multiple photos of her as the evening progressed which are all available on either Taylor’s, Logan’s and yes, LuLu’s facebook page.

The great thing about having a Christmas tree in the house is lighting it during the day.  Already there are gifts underneath and it does not seem to have invaded LuLu’s space at all.  So far … so good.

She has a scheduled pampering today at Fit N’ Furry, and the Weather channel says it would be good idea to stay at home today, but I think we’re probably destined for a trip into the city (SF).  Tomorrow’s blog will provide the details.

It’s still very wet outside and today’s forecast predicts a 100% chance of precipitation today, 90% tomorrow and the same for Monday.  Yes winter has arrived.

No issues for Lu though – she peeked her head out the front door this morning and quickly turned around and headed back to the living room.  Smart dog.

We’ll see who’s smarter by the end of the day.  Of course, there’s still only seven days remaining to fill Santa’s sleigh.  Yes, a week from today – let the madness begin!!  Nice thing this year, no Barbie doll houses for a guy with a number of drinks already in him to put together!! 🙂

Time to shower … so we can get Lu ready for her pampering.

Hope your day goes well.

Life With LuLu – Let it Snow!

Happy Birthday Paula!

First I’d like to thank the clever staff at WordPress for providing me with the option to have snow fall on my blog page.  Certainly keeps in step with the season, the current weather and the title of yesterday’s blog.  Armed in my jeans and a t-shirt this morning I am no match for the weather outside, but oddly enough the house is warm and toasty.  Nice.

In yesterday’s crazy, mixed-up world we watch our USC Gamecocks get absolutely punished by the War Eagles of Auburn.  It was already a train wreck when the gun sounded to end the first quarter.  Auburn had just set an SEC Championship game record by posting 21 points during the first fifteen minutes.  I was comfy-cozy in my chair, ottoman, and side table in the quickly converted man-room for the ball game, and knew early on I’d have no voice left when the final gun indicated a full 60 had been played.  The Gamecock defense was no match for Cam Newton yesterday – the kid can do it all and with any luck at all he (and the War Eagles) do it all to take the National Championship and show the nation that the best college football is in the SEC.

We installed chrimmas lights on the newly shaped Italian Cypresses yesterday.  A bit ghetto looking at first, but with strong support from Bonnie and Logan and accident-free event was completed and the lights really look nice on each side of the garage.  Not too much “schmooltz” … today we decorate the front porch with lighted garland much the way we had done in S. Carolina.

We had a wonderful time last night at Paula’s 16th birthday party.  Nearly her entire family arrived at Mi Pueblo where drinks, chips, and an abundance of laughter and photos were heard and seen.  Paula is truly lucky to have all that support in her life – she’s going to do well in this world.

Happy Birthday Paula ! [only one exclamation point – you received enough on Facebook already :)]

A full NFL schedule to contend with this afternoon – but my New England Patriots banner will not fly from its front door position until Monday afternoon in preparation of THE MNF game of the year.

Is LuLu a football fan?  Let’s ask her … oh, sorry.  She’s already asleep after her morning meal and brief encounter with the outside.  Yes – she’s already asleep, and believe me … very happy.

Hope it’s snowing in your neck of the woods and if it’s not … just return to this blog and see and ENJOY some of the white stuff.  Thanks again to the staff at WordPress.

Peace

Papa

Life With LuLu – Goodbye November

There are three birthdays in this house during the month of November and we celebrate each of them uniquely.  Once the candles are extinguished we roll right into Thanksgiving, turkey, roast beef, football, friends, travel and a few days off from the salt mines … my very favorite holiday, and before one knows it, the page on the calendar is flipped to reveal the white stuff, either in Santa’s beard or on the rooftop of some Vermont barn, but there’s no escaping the white stuff and even if you don’t live in those states that require a pair of snow shovels in the garage, or an oil pan heater in your vehicle – we are all, yes we are all effected by the white stuff.  Particularly if you plan on traveling.  Ever try to get a one way ticket across country? Almost impossible.  That means you’ll be connecting in places like Phoenix, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Charlotte, Boston, and Denver.  I don’t like the odds.

Think we’ll fly to McCarran Airport for the holidaze …

So what’s the big deal with the close-out of November? Well, today we need to get the car registered in California.  Could be a hassle – no telling until you climb on in, and since it’s the last day of the month you might say there’s going to be a line.

Wish us luck.

LuLu is resting in her bedding by the back door.  With a full belly she’s updated her Facebook page, had a walk outside (brrrrrr) and is now resting in LuLu land where I believe the dreamworld is full of english bulldogs.  Who knows.

See you in December.
